PROCESS

Lee Cowan Design + Build works closely with every client to realize the full potential of each project. From the initial consultation through the finishing touches, you’ll receive personal attention and exceptional results. While each project is unique, typically our work style follows these steps.

Getting Started:

Once you contact Lee Cowan, he’ll arrange a free, on-site consultation to discuss your needs, the job parameters, budget and timing. You’ll find that you do most of the talking, while Lee considers the project’s possibilities. The more fully you describe your wishes and concerns about the project, the better the ideas and outcome. Lee has often said, “I find that learning what a client doesn’t like is just as important as learning what they do like.”

Depending on the nature of your project, at this point you may simply discuss design ideas or Lee may provide preliminary sketches for your consideration.

Design Development:

There’s a long way from an initial sketch to a working drawing, and it is during this phase that you’ll see your project come to life, albeit on paper. Changes, discussion, debate and revisions are an expected part of this phase and will be managed with regular meetings and a well defined approval process. Subcontractors may need to be scheduled at this time and drawings will be finalized before moving on to the construction phase.

Construction Management

Whether it’s a cabinet or a kitchen, the construction phase is often the high point of a project as you begin to see your dreams actualized. Lee Cowan Design + Build relies on the expertise of a number of reliable subcontractors for electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other specialized services. It is not uncommon to make additional adjustments and refinements to the design during this time. Change orders and frequent contact are used to keep everyone informed of the progress and any budget implications.

Team Meetings:

Throughout the entire project, Lee builds in regular meetings with his crew and maintains frequent contact with his clients. If you have questions or concerns, Lee is generally very accessible by cell phone, and he prides himself on maintaining a level of accountability he learned working at his father’s side in his family business.
